Frequently Asked Questions
We know commissioning a garden design is an important decision, and you may have a few questions before getting started. A garden makeover is a significant investment — not only can it enhance your lifestyle, health, and wellbeing, but it can also add long-term value to your property. Here are some of the things clients ask us most often — and if your question isn’t covered, please feel free to get in touch.
Why should I hire a garden designer?
A garden designer brings together creativity, technical knowledge, and horticultural expertise to transform your outdoor space into something both beautiful and functional. Without a considered design, gardens can end up piecemeal or impractical, and contractors may build what they’re used to rather than what truly suits your home and lifestyle.
By working with a professional designer, you’ll benefit from:
- A tailored vision – a design shaped around your style, lifestyle, and the character of your property.
- Creative solutions – new ideas you may not have thought of, from planting combinations to clever use of space.
- Technical expertise – detailed plans that ensure your garden can be built efficiently, accurately, and within budget.
- Long-term value – a well-designed garden enhances your wellbeing and can increase your property’s value.
How do I enquire about your bespoke garden design service?
The easiest way to get started is by sending us an email outlining your requirements. It helps to include details such as the size of your garden (and any photos, if available), your location, and your timeline. From there, we’ll be in direct contact to answer your questions and guide you through the next steps.
Can you start working on my garden design immediately after we sign the contract?
We do have a lead time before we can start new projects. It really depends on the season and our current schedule, so feel free to ask us when you reach out, and we’ll let you know the estimated waiting time at that moment.
How much does a garden design cost?
Garden design is a professional service. Fees reflect the creative ideas, technical drawings, and horticultural expertise required to deliver a garden that is both beautiful and functional. As every project is unique, we’ll provide a tailored fee proposal after our first visit, based on your garden’s size, complexity, and requirements.
How long does it take to design a garden?
It depends on the scale of the project. Smaller gardens can be designed within a few weeks, while larger or more complex schemes may take several months from concept to final drawings.
How true-to-life are your garden design visuals?
Our visuals are created to be as close to reality as possible. Using advanced rendering software, we produce detailed images that show your garden at full maturity, with accurate textures, lighting, and planting. Hard materials such as paving or furniture can be swapped easily, and planting combinations refined until the design feels just right. We also produce immersive walk-through videos, so you can experience the atmosphere of your future garden at different times of day — all before a single plant is in the ground.

Do you carry out the landscaping?
We don’t build gardens ourselves, but we work with a trusted network of skilled landscapers who deliver our designs to a high specification. We can recommend contractors, source quotes, and, if you wish, provide full project management — including site inspections.
Can you help with planting design only?
Yes. We offer stand-alone planting plans and planting design advice if you don’t require a full garden redesign.
Do you supply plants?
Yes. We supply plants using a range of specialist trade nurseries that will have grown the plants under optimal conditions.
Do you offer aftercare advice once the garden is finished?
Yes. We provide aftercare guidance and can create a tailored maintenance schedule, or arrange follow-up visits to help your garden establish and thrive.
Do you offer garden maintenance once the garden is finished?
We don’t provide maintenance directly, but we work with a number of reputable gardeners we are happy to recommend. We always like to meet you and your chosen gardener on site once the project is complete, to talk through the planting scheme and ensure a unified, long-term vision for your garden.
Which locations do you cover?
We are based in Sevenoaks, Kent, and most of our projects are across London and the South East. However, we have also designed gardens further afield, including international projects, and are always open to travelling for the right commission. For distant locations, additional travel costs may apply, but all other fees remain consistent.
How are design fees paid?
Design fees are structured in instalments, linked to project milestones. Payments are made via BACS, and receipts are provided for each instalment.
